Best Tactical Pants 2017

So what are the best tactical pants for 2017?

Here is my pick….5.11 Stryke Tactical Pants.

I have owned and worn many tactical pants over the past 15 years. They were in various colors (OD, tan, brown, black) and prices. Some were $150 while others were $15.

I have 4 criteria for tactical pants.

  1. Appearance
  2. Fit
  3. Durability
  4. Price

The very first thing I look at when shopping for tactical pants is the appearance. How do they look? Do they look clean and neat? Do they look baggy? Do they look well made?

5.11 Stryke Tactical Pants are the very best in appearance. They look professional and very clean. The pocket flaps lay flat and are fastened with heavy duty Velcro. There is plenty of pocket storage while still maintaining a sleek profile. The pant legs are well designed and move with your legs whether sprinting or crawling on your hands and knees. The knee sections are designed to allow your knee to move freely. The legs are a straight fit which means…not baggy and not too tight.

So how do the 5.11 Stryke Tactical Pants fit?

Perfecto! They fit me perfectly. There is room without bagginess. I hate baggy pants. The critical areas in tactical pants for me are the thighs, butt and crotch areas. I don’t like these areas to be tight on me. Date pants can be tight but not tactical pants. I like some room but not baggy room like relaxed-fit cargo pants. The Stryke pants look like tailor made pants on me. I love them.

5.11 Stryke Tactical Pants Durability

After 4 years of wear, to work and outdoors, I have to say these tactical pants look exactly like the first day I bought them. I’ve washed and dried them many times and they still look brand new. I’ve worked in them, did yard work and some tactical ops too. The rip-stop fabric is very thick and tough and it doesn’t or hasn’t faded yet. There are no lose threads or worn snaps. The fly zipper still functions like new. You just cannot tell these were ever worn.

5.11 Stryke Tactical Pants are priced in the middle of the range at $70. I bought mine for $65 online. Most tactical and for that matter dress pants are about the same price, so these are not super expensive. If you go to the 5.11 website, the Stryke tactical pants are $74.99 plus shipping. They are available in 11 colors. The price on ranges from $51 to $74.99 depending on the color and size.
