Submissions

If you’d like to submit an article for publication, please send it as a word document (with any images you want to use attached as seperate files) to one or both of the following e-mail addresses:

lesmondine@thetwentyfirstfloor.com

endless_psych@thetwentyfirstfloor.com

Anything vaguely related to themes of science and scepticism will be considered. We’re more than happy to take submissions of articles that challenge traditional “sceptical” views too!

Basic guidelines

While we adopt a very open submissions policy if you are writing about science it would be nice if the article strikes a balance between accessibility and reporting the science.
Articles that convey an enthusiasm for the subject matter at hand are encouraged and it doesn’t matter if you are talking about a new discovery, a classic piece of science or an issue affecting the scientific community - anything is fair game.

We would ask you to pitch articles at the informed layperson as oppossed to an expert or a small child. We don’t want to blind people with jargon and we certainly don’t want to come across as patronising folk either!

If you wish to do a bit of research blogging than please give us the details of any papers, articles or what-have-you that you wish us to generate a citation for.

The guidelines for Skepticism are even looser – although we would ask that if you have to go off on a rant about a woo-merchant, snake oil salesman or psychic that any insults are creatively crafted and preferably amusing! (Preferably they also won’t get us sued for libel!)

We will look at anything under the category of opinion and will offer anyone whose research we comment on a right to reply.

If there is any case where we feel a submission doesn’t suit the site we will endeavour where possible to contact the author and suggest possible changes or explain our decision to reject it.
